New iPhone 4S app breaks up marriage

New Find My Friends app making headlines for its clever way of letting iPhone users catch up with friends — and significant others who aren't where they say they are.

'Divorcing wife. Thanks iPhone 4s and Find My Friends'

This was the subject header that recently caused such a stir on the chat forum MacRumors.com this past weekend.

The new iPhone 4S hit the stores just a few days ago, but it's already making major headlines for its slick personal assistant feature as well as its assortment of clever new apps. One such app, Find My Friends, has been praised as a great way to track and meet up with friends. If you and a friend have the app on your iPhones, you can see your friend's location on on your screen at anytime, and vice versa.

As expected, the app can also be used to keep track of folks who don't know they're being tracked. According to the thread on MacRumors, a man with the screenname ThomasMetz caught his wife cheating over the weekend via the Find My Friends app...

"I got my wife a new 4s and loaded up find my friends without her knowing. She told me she was at her friends house in the east village. I've had suspicions about her meeting this guy who live uptown. Lo and behold, Find my Friends has her right there.

I just texted her asking where she was and the dumb b!otch said she was on 10th Street!! Thank you Apple, thank you App Store, thank you all. These beautiful treasure trove of screen shots going to play well when I meet her a$$ at the lawyer's office in a few weeks.

thankfully, she's the rich one."

Hoax? Could be. As far as I know, ThomasMetz has not gone public, but the scenario is certainly possible and is bound to be repeated. Trying to catch a cheater? There's apparently now an app for that.

Each time a new iPhone comes out, it's a slight improvement over the last.Let’s go down the memory lane and figure out the people and technology.
