A public art installation by Tyree Guyton involving thousands of arranged shoes on the street is meant to raise awareness of homelessness in Detroit.

 

The installation, called "Street Folk," is part of Art X Detroit, a collection of performance art, music and literary events held in the Motor City. Guyton is known for the Heidelberg Project, a long-term outdoor art project first created in 1986.
