Hurricane Earl from space
This image provided by NASA shows Hurricane Earl as it whirls its way across the Atlantic Ocean in this image taken by astronaut Douglas Wheelock aboard the International Space Station on Aug. 31.
Earl is expected to bring high winds and heavy rain to the U.S. coast by late Thursday or early Friday.
