Wooden trolley safety concernsA worker pushes a wooden trolley on Jan. 19 in Manila. An alternative vehicle in the Philippines, the wooden trolley is made of recycled logs and bearings and runs along the railroad tracks when the trains are not running. The Philippine government is asking residents to stop using this common form of transportation because of safety concerns. According to SFGate.com, men in one of Manila's working-class districts have used a stretch of state-owned rail that cuts through their community to ferry students or passengers and make a buck.
