Jordanian woman Amina Tariq wears a spectacular full-length gown of lettuce in Amman on July 25. But the PETA member never got to promote her pro-vegetarian message because Jordanian police said the one-woman demo was unauthorized. Moments after Tariq arrived at Amman's Rainbow Street, she was escorted to a nearby restaurant, where she changed clothes and was taken to the police station.

 

The Jordanian muslim, wearing a lettuce leaf gown which was attached to a green dress underneath, carried a placard reading, "Let Vegetarianism Grow on You." A PETA statement quoted Tariq as saying that she sought to ask people "to turn over a new leaf and go vegetarian."
