Eight-legged soccer oracle

Nervous ahead of their make-or-break World Cup match with Ghana on Wednesday, Germany turned to an English-born octopus named Paul with a knack for correctly predicting winners. Paul, a soccer oracle, correctly predicted that Germany would win against Ghana in the June 23 match by chosing the shell in the German box. His decision was a difficult one though, as it took him several tries to open the cover of the box.

Paul has had a 100-percent success rate for the World Cup so far, according to a spokeswoman for Sea Life in Oberhausen, Germany, where the eight-legged oracle lives.
