New Zealand miners
Relatives of the miners trapped in New Zealand's Pike River Mine hear the news on Nov. 24 of a second blast at the coal mine, likely killing anyone who might have survived the initial blast.
The first gas explosion ripped through the coal mine on Nov. 19 while 29 workers were underground. Rescue crews began their search the following day, but with no success. On Nov. 24, a second explosion occurred, killing the survivors from the first blast.
