River gymIn 2005, New York Magazine held a contest for forward-thinking gym concepts, and Mitchell Joachim & Douglas Joachim submitted River Gym. This floating gym would harness the energy lost during New Yorkers' workouts and use it to move boats across the Hudson and East rivers. Not only does this innovative design use the energy created by people on cardio machines, the designers say it also “helps purify water, provides spectacular views and transports less-motivated citizens.”

Floating in the Hudson and East rivers? Probably don't want to go with that white color!
Go back to 1 or 2-person boats. How many people need to cardio their way across the Hudson to ferry themselves, the exercise machine, a half-ton or more of car, two other people (assuming carpools), and boat enough to keep all that afloat?
Hamsters everywhere will be somewhat amused.
But... this could be something of an employment opportunity
