The EV1
OK, so the EV1 could have gone better than it did. General Motors launched the EV1 as a small, lease-only program that produced just more than 1,000 first- and second-generation cars between 1997 and 1999. The cars were pricey ($34,000-$44,000) but could get 55-75 miles per eight-hour charge.
