Today is the National Alternative Fuel Day Odyssey, a program of the National Alternative Fuel Training Consortium (NAFTC) at West Virginia University in coordination with the United States Department of Energy (DOE).

The biennial event, which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year, is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of advanced fuel vehicles and promote green motoring choices.

Goals for the 2012 Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey include:

  • Heighten awareness and enthusiasm for AFVs and advanced technology vehicles
  • Strengthen partnerships among industry related organizations
  • Establish the role of the NAFTC and its partners and sponsors as leaders in the AFV industry
  • Support Odyssey events at the national and local levels to ensure that this will be the largest one-day event promoting the use of alternative fuels and energy efficient vehicles

Consortium members, Clean Cities Coalitions and other organizations are hosting a variety of events in honor of National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey. Ride and drives, workshops, vehicle demonstrations and automotive lab tours or just a few examples of the type of events that are planned for today.

These events are designed to serve as educational opportunities for the public and many include an appearance by an industry expert, who is available to answer questions about sustainable motoring topics. Find an event in your area by visiting the National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey 2012 event listing.
