Bicycle valet for local shoppers
At my local farmers' market, shoppers can get free valet parking for their bicycles.

My local Sunday Farmers’ Market offers free bike valet — and this week, SlateV featured the eco-friendly service in a short video.

Considering how crowded and popular this farmers’ market can get, the bike valet is a great convenience for everyone in the community. Drive a car, and you’ll be circling a while or parking far away to trek over a few long blocks — by which time you’ll be cranky from fighting traffic.

Ride a bike, and all you have to do is drop off your bike right at the front of the market! In exchange, you receive a paper ticket — which can be reused every week, by the way — so you can reclaim your bike once you’re done.

Santa Monica also offers free bike valet at a number of big events, including the Twilight Dance Series, a concert series on the pier that happens every Thursday evening during the summer. In addition, the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, a nonprofit bike advocacy, also offers bike valet at some events around Los Angeles. Do you have something similar in your city?
