Brooke Burke-Charvet, co-host of the popular reality show "Dancing with the Stars," has revealed in a YouTube video that she's undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer.

"I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I'm going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck," Burke-Charvet, 41, said in the video. "I don't get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it, because it's going to be pretty much dead center. I don't want anybody to read about it and get the wrong idea, or think that I'm sick, because I'm not."

Burke-Chavret said the unusual nodule was discovered during a regularly scheduled physical. While doctors at first were unsure whether or not it was cancerous, subsequent scans confirmed the worst. Her only regret? Not getting the recommended scans done earlier.

"And why the hell didn’t I check this eight months ago when my internist told me to?," she wrote back in July. "Too busy, I guess, which today feels like an irresponsible, stupid and lame excuse."

Nevertheless, Burke-Chavret is staying positive and looking forward to putting her battle with cancer behind her.

"I've booked my surgery," she says. "It's taken me a couple of months to really wrap my head around this. … Now I'm good. I'm ready to deal with it, and I'm going to be fine. I feel really, really strong. Doctors say this is a 'good' kind of cancer to have. … My doctor did tell me this is a happily ever after ending kind of thing."
