Cameron Diaz has become the latest celebrity to announce a book focused on health and wellness. Publisher HarperCollins announced the deal today, saying that the 39-year-old "aims to engage and empower women and girls by showing them that with the right knowledge about their bodies, they can live happier, healthier, stronger and better."
Added Executive Director Karen Rinaldi: "We are thrilled to be partnering with Cameron Diaz to develop and publish her health, fitness and lifestyle book. Cameron's empowering message goes to the heart of what we are focusing on with our new list at HarperCollins."
Diaz has long focused on maintaining a healthy, athletic lifestyle — saying that for her exercise and diet are simply a way of life.
"Exercise for me is like eating, sleeping and breathing," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I'm consistent, and when I'm not consistent, it shows up on my body. I get really skinny, and I know it might sound like, 'Well, good for you.' But the body that people talk about is not me trying to stay slim, it's the one where I work hard to keep weight on me."
Another side of Cameron that we'll likely see in this upcoming book is her appreciation of nature and organic food. During a 2010 interview, she opened up about her desire to move away from the spotlight and spend time working the land somewhere.
"It’s almost like this primal thing. I really just feel as if the Earth is where we all come from and we have nothing if we don’t have soil and water and sun. I’ve read a lot about agriculture and I feel the need inside me to work with the Earth in some way," she added.
Diaz's new fitness book is expected to hit sometime in the fall of 2013.
