Hands Across the Sand events happened across the world last Saturday, when people gathered for an hour to make a peaceful statement to oppose offshore drilling and call for clean energy solutions. I was at the gathering just north of Santa Monica Pier, where Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, GREEN LA Institute director Jonathan Parfrey, Heal the Bay, Surfrider Foundation, Santa Monica Baykeepers, Environment California, and a couple hundred L.A. area activists came out to hear rousing anti-offshore drilling speeches — before joining hands at noon and yelling “Clean Energy Now!”
Did you take part in this worldwide activist event? What happened at the Hands Across the Sand event in your neighborhood?
