The vegan praise from Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi just keeps coming.

The couple appeared on "The Rachael Ray Show" last week to talk about their animal-free lifestyle, extolling the physical benefits and dismissing early doubts about the difficulty of making the switch. For Ellen, her biggest worry was missing the taste of cheese.

“I’ve found that you can have pizza without cheese and it’s delicious," she said via Skype, "because the cheese is so heavy and it fills you up and until you know the difference you really think, ‘Oh well that’s all that pizza is.’ Once you have it with just tomato sauce and just vegetables and just things, there’s more room for cocktails. You can drink more,” she joked.

As for benefits, the 54-year-old said she lost weight, gained energy, started sleeping better, and also noticed a healthy change to her skin. Previously, she would have to get facials to clear up her rosacea, and just after two weeks of going vegan, her rosacea was gone.

“There are benefits to whatever you feel like you’re missing out on. You’re gaining in so many other healthful ways,” DeGeneres added. “Honestly, I would eat cardboard rather than go back to eating animals."
