Megan Fox no longer vegan

'Transformers' actress says diet caused her to lose too much weight.

While most people extol the weight-loss virtues of a vegan or vegetarian diet, Megan Fox isn't one of them. The "Transformers" actress says that her commitment to a plant-based eating regimen made her feel too thin.

"For a year and a half, until about four months ago, I followed a strict vegan diet based on raw fruits and vegetables, no bread, sugar and coffee," she told Italian magazine Amica. "But I had lost too much weight."

While Fox's trainer Harley Pasterna says the actress has a "very fast metabolism," it's still possible to embrace a vegan lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight. There are millions of people (and plenty of celebrities) who have been vegans for years without jeopardizing their health in any way. Its sounds to me like Fox would have benefited from a vegan nutritionist to help with achieving the look she wanted.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old says she's "eating a bit of everything" and cardio training three times a week. She can next be seen in the upcoming comedy, "Friends with Kids."

Reality Check 09/13/2011 11:18 AM

If its only about animal rights, there is no such thing as vegan. Vegans eat more insects than any other diet, and there are animal parts in everyday things such as hydraulic fluid, asphalt, plastics, ceramics, ball bearings, medical supplies, contact lens cleaner, adhesives, fire extinguishers, and much, much more. So if the animal is.... More

Most people that are vegan don't say they have no impact, they are just trying to suck less than other people. I do not knowingly consume or purchase any animal products and I purchase local as much as possible.

Saying that eating pastured animals has the same environmental effect on the planet as a vegan diet is just ignorant. With 7 billion + humans on the planet, do you really think there are enough pastures to feed everyone an animal based diet? No. Is there enough land to.... More
