Pineapples always remind me of that sweet song from Cabaret (“If I could, I would fill your entire room with pineapples!”) — and eating these juicy fruits are sweeter than ever this year, now that fair trade pineapples are finally easy to find.
Just stop by a Whole Foods to pick up a fair trade certified pineapple, grown by farmers in Costa Rica who are paid fair wages and practice greener farming methods. According to Whole Foods, a lot of the company’s pineapple supply is now organic, too. Not all the pineapples at Whole Foods are organic and/or fair trade, however, so be sure to look for the certification labels when picking out your eco-ethical fruit.
