The stupidest bike lanes in the U.S.

Bad bike lanes can be frustrating — but these video exposés make them funny.

Thu, Jan 22 2009 at 6:10 PM EST

Would-be cyclists are often frustrated by the lack of bike infrastructure in their cities. And the people at SlateV have found humor in these frustrations — by making a video about the stupidest bike lane in the U.S.

Guess what? It's right near my neighborhood in Los Angeles! (via Earthfirst) The problem with the lane? It's only 275 feet long!

SlateV audience members sent in a lot of other stupid bike lanes from their own neighborhoods — and in the followup video, an even stupider U.S. bike lane is featured. This time, it's in Maryland. Watch and laugh.

I would think that the lane would be extended in the future. At it's current state, it is just waisting room and needs to be replaced. We definetely need more bike lanes down here in Georiga!

Very, Very dumb. Makes me embarrassed to be a Marylander. that was terrible! I live in our beach town Ocean City, MD now and that's all I do is ride my bike, as well as the bus system when I need to go further. I've parked my truck and now it is just collecting rust and dirt haha. But we have a bike lane shared with a bus lane! oh boy! Always gotta be looking over your shoulder. So I end up riding on the sidewalks a lot. I just don't trust MD drivers either!
