The vegan celebrity train picked up more passengers this week after RadarOnline reported that hitmaker Usher has become the latest big name to embrace a plant-based diet. Even more interesting is the fact that the 33-year-old is apparently urging his protégé Justin Bieber to join him.

 

"Usher frequents a few vegan restaurants in New York City and not only loves the food, but feels like it's the healthiest way to live," the source told the site. "He's desperate to get Bieber on the same health kick he is and thinks with all the touring and busy schedule he has, it would keep him energized."

 

Usher's transition to veganism comes on the heels of Rosie O'Donnell's commitment to a plant-based diet late last month. The 50-year-old comedian recently suffered a frightening heart attack and has vowed to return her body to a state of good health. 

 

"its not as bad at i thought - and hell - if life is the result - count me in #nomoreheartattacks," she tweeted last week, adding that she had already lost more than 10 pounds since dropping animal products from her diet. Other big names onboard the vegan train include Meredith Vieira, Bill Clinton, Russell Brand, Carrie Underwood, Jason Mraz, Ozzy Osbourne, Ellen DeGeneres, Anne Hathaway and even Mike Tyson.
