Juneau, Alaska

Nestled at the base of Mount Juneau and across the channel from Douglas Island, there are few more picturesque settings than Alaska's state capital. In fact, the landscape is so rugged that you can only arrive at Juneau by sea or air.

The surrounding region has an embarrassment of natural monuments. Glacier Bay National Park, Tongass National Forest, and Admiralty Island National Monument are right in the city's backyard.
