Give It Back® Recycling Program

Content provided by Coca-Cola Company

Plastic bottles can be recycled into so many things: backpacks, t-shirts, rugs…even new bottles. So we’re encouraging everyone to give us back their Coke bottles and cans – when they’re empty, of course – through our national recycling program called Give It Back®.

With the help of Give it Back® people are learning that recycling really does matter – and every bottle counts! For example, did you know that it only takes 5 to 14 20oz PET bottles to make one XL t-shirt? Or that recycling plastic for reuse requires less energy than producing bottles with virgin materials, and reduces waste and greenhouse gases?

And when it comes to aluminum cans, recycling really adds up. In fact, it takes 95% less energy to make a can from recycled aluminum than it does from virgin aluminum.

All in all, the approximate value of aluminum and PET wasted each year in the U.S. alone is $1.5 billion!

Give it Back® has even made it to college. Participating schools are going greener with personal recycling totes in dorm rooms and more bins around campuses.
So just remember: when you Give It Back®, you’re helping Coca-Cola meet the goal of recycling or reusing even more of our bottles and cans in the U.S. Thanks!

Join us to see what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.
