Man sells restaurant to raise money for uninsured employee with brain tumor
Michael De Beyer has put his Texas restaurant up for sale to help pay for medical treatments for 19-year-old employee Brittany Mathis.
Mathis has a brain tumor but no insurance. Her father died in 2000 from a ruptured brain tumor. "I just want her to get help," said her mom Barbara, also a waitress at Kaiserhof Restaurant in Montgomery.
"I really think it's an amazing blessing and can't thank him enough and his family," Brittany told local TV station KHOU. "Never thought that anybody would do that and he did and it makes me feel really good."
De Beyer thinks his restaurant is worth about $2 million. In addition to helping Brittany, he is hoping to spend more time with his family.
