EPA takes on obscure chemicals in consumer products
The EPA is cracking down on glymes, a potentially toxic chemical being used in a variety of household products.

(Photo: danielfoster437/Flickr) Under federal law, the EPA may adopt a “significant new use rule” for a substance when there is concern that additional uses could cause harm by significantly increasing human exposure or environmental degradation. Over the past decade, the EPA has issued 47 of these rules for 360 chemicals.
