Feb. 21, 1918: The last known Carolina parakeet, named Incas, dies in the Cincinnati Zoo. The only native parrot species in North America, the Carolina parakeet was intensively hunted for its plumage. There was a final sighting in the wild in Florida in 1920, but the species was formally declared extinct in 1939.

One of the goals of the conference is to reconcile environmental values with those of evangelical Christianity.
Feb. 21, 2010: After years of railing against global warming as a "hoax," Glenn Beck is quoted in an interview with USA Today Weekend saying, "You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change," he says. He also says there's a legit case that global warming has, at least in part, been caused by mankind." Beck later says he was misquoted.
