May 27, 1996:
After 23 years of delays and exponential cost overruns, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) completes the first unit of its Watts Bar nuclear power complex
(at right) in eastern Tennessee. Construction on the second Watts Bar reactor was halted in 1988 and has not resumed.
May 27, 2009: "The Goode Family" debuts on ABC. The animated series features a gentle-but-smug family obsessing about living an environmentally correct life in the U.S. suburbs. But series creator Mike Judge cannot recycle his success from his previous hits like "Beavis and Butt-head," "King of the Hill" and the movie "Office Space." ABC disposes of the series properly after 13 episodes.
