Turning old socks into new dust rags
Walmart continued its Earth Month celebrations with a spring-cleaning themed #WinItWednesday Twitter contest on April 10, 2013. Walmart challenged its Twitter followers to submit their most creative green cleaning tips. Each of the three winning submissions is an easy and free, or low-cost, idea that anyone can try.

Addrienne, aka @zippy573, explained how she came up with her idea in a recent email interview, “I have a corner in my drawer and also my son’s that the single socks set and while putting away the wash I check if there is a match. After some time if those socks don't have a mate, they end up in the dusting bin.”
Missing socks are a common issue in many families and Addrienne’s idea is a great solution to the problem of having a bunch of unmatched socks. Addrienne also shared that, “The socks fit really well on the hand, smaller ones for smaller hands. I noticed that I have more control dusting with the sock on my hand rather than a rag.”
The good news is that the socks work well, even without a cleaning product. “I don't always have a dusting spray around. It works quite well by itself with out it. Just keep turning the sock until its full. Go grab another and keep going! Easy to wash and reuse. I do recommend an antistatic type spray for the television though.”
The April 10, 2013 #WinItWednesday contest featured a guest judge – PRIDEClean. In addition to the $100 Walmart gift card, each of the winning entrants will also receive a year’s supply of PRIDEClean’s all-purpose cleaner and green glass and mirror cleaner.
