It's become increasingly popular for celebrities to turn their birthdays into fundraising campaigns for the organization charity: water, which helps fund clean water projects in the developing world. Justin Bieber, Alyssa Milano, Jessica Biel, and others have all raised tens of thousands — but it's Adam Lambert's 29th birthday that's a stunning standout.
The former "American Idol" runner-up months ago told fans that for his 29th birthday, he had a goal to raise $29,000. Unbelievably, fans quickly raised the cash in six hours! Adam was then encouraged by fans to raise the new goal to $290,000 — and 24 hours later, $60,000 had been reached.
Last week, Lambert proudly tweeted:
"WOW! $323,255 raised for charity:water! Thank you all so much for your effort and support! Because of you, 16,162 people will be helped!"
According to the organization, Adam's fundraiser set records across the board. "Thank you, Adam! And thanks to your devoted fans," the site reads. Something tells me they're already looking forward to Lambert's next birthday, when he turns the big 3-0.
The campaign has been closed, but you can still donate to the cause by clicking here
