Laurie David, ex-wife of comedian Larry David and environmental activist, is shooting down allegations by Star Magazine
that she was the reason Al Gore recently separated from Tipper, his wife of 40 years.
“Al and Laurie went from friends to lovers," an insider told the magazine. "It couldn’t be avoided."
Laurie is saying the report is false and responded to the article via The Huffington Post
yesterday saying, "It's completely untrue. It's a total fabrication. I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce."
Added Laurie's agent to PEOPLE
, "I have no idea where it started from or why, but it is absolutely, positively and patently untrue."
Obviously, the gossip rags are looking for a story where there isn't one — and the rumor mill is throwing around wild ideas in the process. People just can't believe that the Gores separated for any reason but infidelity.
Friends of the former couple told PEOPLE at the time that the split was "not one of those [cheating] situations in any remote way."
So can we stop gossiping now? Unfortunately, no. The Globe is reporting
that Al Gore is involved in a "sensational gay scandal". Oh, boy.
