As we approach Chelsea Clinton's big day — aka, the wedding of the decade — more hints are being dropped about various participants.
We've already covered the leafy green menu for a catering budget estimated at close to $750,000 — as well as the farm-themed rehearsal dinner and green party favors. It was also revealed that Chelsea requested a gluten-free cake due to an allergy — but largely unanswered is the bakery behind the grand dessert.
Ecorazzi has picked up from AisleDash that Babycakes — the popular gluten-free vegan bakery — will neither deny nor confirm its participation in the wedding. Currently, however, the bakery appears to be the frontrunner, with Lulu’s Cake Boutique in Scarsdale, N.Y., another solid possibility.
Babycakes makes sense in terms of popularity — having been adored by the likes of Alicia Silverstone, Jason Schwartzman, Natalie Portman, Madonna, Martha Stewart, and even the ladies of "The View". They also just launched a new downtown L.A. location, so it's not hard to expect others from the vegan/veg Hollywood scene becoming fans.
The rumored $11,000 cake has a lot of mouths to feed — but regardless of where it comes from, it's cool that many of those guests will be tasting a vegan dessert for the first time. Like others, I'm hopeful such "green cuisine" becomes a popular choice for future nuptials.
