The off-screen heroics of actor Christian Bale continued this month with the news that the 38-year-old recently fulfilled the wish of a young cancer patient.

Jayden Barber, a 4-year-old cancer patient, had one desire: to meet the real "Batman." Friends and family organized a Facebook page called "Lighting the Batsignal for Jayden" to help spread the word. Bale answered the call and earlier this week flew Jayden and his entire family out to Disneyland for an intimate lunch at the attraction's Club 33 restaurant.

“The entire interaction was like old friends having lunch. Jayden did not get star struck but was well aware of who we were with!” Charlene Barber wrote on her son’s Facebook page: “They talked movies and super Heros an he was genuinely happy to hear about everything Jayden wanted to tell him. Christian, his wife and daughter are three of the most beautiful people we have ever met! Christian made these arrangements for us personally and ensured we were treated like royalty. I don’t have even one negative thing to say about them. I can tell you that they were just as impressed w Jayden as Jayden was w them."

Jayden has been fighting bone cancer for more than two years. Despite at one point receiving news that his condition might become terminal after a failed bone marrow transplant, doctors now say his disease is in remission.

Despite the good news, Jayden's mother posted yesterday that her son is still not out of the woods. "Jayden had a doctors apt today," she wrote. "His liver enzymes remain bad ( but not worse), but his bilirubin is now a lot higher (which is bad), his blood pressure is also crazy high! They are still watching it at this point and we have another apt thurs."
