We've finally been served the first trailer for Jon Favreau's new film "Chef," and based on this delicious appetizer, it looks like we're in for a memorable full course.
Terrible food puns aside, "Chef" tells the story of a gourmet chef down on his luck who loses his job and decides to open a food truck. In the process, he not only rediscovers everything he loves about cooking, but also becomes closer with this family. This has vibes of feel good (and feel hungry) written all over it.
"I've always been fascinated by chefs and the worlds of chefs -- what they do is incredibly cinematic," Favreau said in a recent interview with THR
. "It's hard to show the creative process onscreen in a way that captures it [in a way] that's visual. You show people playing poker or hacking into a computer; it feels so significant in the script and then when you see it on the screen, it loses something. But there's something about cooking -- food being prepared is incredibly captivating. It became just a fun box of tools to use as a director."
"Chef" hits theaters on May 9th.
