At much larger scales than the normal beach creation and with incredible detail, these sand castles outdo any plastic mold on the market. Artists spend hours, even days, fastidiously crafting sand for a final product that could be blown away with a gust of wind — but luckily, folks have photographed some of the most amazing sand castles ever created, and we're here to share them:

Though it is not as polished as its competitive counterparts, this veritable sand fortress in Miami could easily be the most extensive of the bunch. Nearly as tall as a palm tree and comprised of several towers, several days of work went into this creation.
