Gisele launches green cartoon series

'Gisele & the Green Team' to feature a group of young women who moonlight as environmental superheroes.

Gisele Bündchen
Model/environmentalist Gisele Bündchen has teamed up with AOL Kids on a new awesome online 26-episode series called "Gisele and the Green Team".

Containing themes a la "Captain Planet", with the animation style of your favorite 80s cartoons, the show follows a group of young women who are also environmental superheroes.

"With my cartoon, I want there to be teamwork," Gisele told the NY Times. "This is why there’s the five girls. These girls, they are not powerful individually – they are only powerful together."

The 30-year-old supermodel counts "She-Ra", "He-Man" and "Scooby-Doo" as some of her favorite childhood cartoons, but admits that most of them weren't too educational. With "Green Girls", she's hoping to inspire, as well as entertain.

Obviously, AOL is thrilled to have her as a co-producer and they've also launched a new site within AOL Kids to promote the whole "girl-power" green theme. "Through the kids you also get to the parents," she said. "That’s what my hope is."

Unfortunately, Gisele's dream of voicing her own cartoon character just wasn't meant to be; mainly because producers were afraid that kids wouldn't be able to understand her.

"Oh, God. Brazilians trying to speak English," she said. "This is why they say: “We can’t have your voice in the cartoon. Because people are not going to understand you, Gisele.” I say: “I want to be the voice in the cartoon! I want to be my voice!” They say, “You can’t, because people are going to be like, ‘What did you just say?’” I’m like: “O.K. I want them understand.” So fine, they don’t need to have my voice."

Check out the first episode of "Gisele and the Green Team" below. Trust me, you're going to love the opening theme music.
