Actor Dave Legeno, whose imposing size and experience in boxing and martial arts made him a larger than life character on the big screen, was discovered dead last week by a pair of hikers in California's infamous Death Valley. The 50-year-old appears to have died of heat-related issues; a common danger in a region that averages 116 °F in July.
While Legeno had roles in films like "Batman Begins," "Snatch," and "Snow White and the Huntsman," he's best known for playing the evil werewolf Fenrir Greyback in three of the last "Harry Potter" movies. After hearing of his passing, two of of Legeno's co-stars took to social media to pay their respects.
"Dave & I on Half Blood Prince," posted actor Tom Felton to Instagram
. "he was sometimes scary on the outside but was always soft on the inside. A sweet, gentle man who was often disguised as a brute. He'll be missed. Thank you for all the good times mate x"
Tweeted actress Emma Watson:
Check out a video of Legeno discussing his roles in "Harry Potter" and "Snow White" below. Our condolences to his family.
