After years of unveiling tricked-out "Zombie Survival Machines" at Comic-Con, Hyundai is finally releasing one you can buy.
The automaker has announced the availability of a Tucson "The Walking Dead" special edition in Ash Black with body side graphics and special badges. While you won't get the plow with spikes or roof mounted rail gun featured in its Comic-Con offerings, there is a handy "Zombie Survival Pack" in the trunk containing everything from emergency water rations to an extensive first aid kit.
“The Walking Dead Special Edition Tucson represents a chance for loyal fans to show their enthusiasm for the graphic novel series,” said Christine Jew, Tucson product planner. “The Tucson is versatile, responsive and fuel-efficient, allowing just enough room for those wisely-chosen passengers and supplies needed in the event of a zombie apocalypse or any survival scenario.”
"Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman, who collaborated with Hyundai on the Comic-Con vehicles, recently said that fans of the AMC drama can look forward to an "intense" Season 5.
"We did pull back on the reins a little bit at the end of season four," he told THR. "We're definitely going to hit the ground running for Season 5 and we really don't let up very quickly at all. It's going to be a pretty fast-paced, intense season."
Look for "The Walking Dead" to return to television this October. The Hyundai "Walking Dead" edition Tucson is available in showrooms now.
