For the sixth time, Selena Gomez has changed the life of an animal in need.

The singer/actress, currently dating teen pop sensation Justin Bieber, visited the Winnipeg animal rescue D'Arcy's A.R.C. last Friday with her beau and walked away with yet another new family member.

"They spent a lot of time with the puppies," the rescue's chief executive officer, D'Arcy Johnston, told People magazine. "I was told that [Gomez] was missing the dogs that she has at home."

Over the course of the hour that Bieber and Gomez spent at the shelter, they paid a lot of attention to one 10-week-old husky mix. Gomez eventually decided to adopt the puppy, naming him "Baylor" on the spot.

"Baylor probably would have had a bad life or a very short life," Johnston said. "But he got rescued and brought to our shelter and is now going to live a very good life."

Back in 2009, Gomez, 19, teamed up with her "Wizards of Waverly Place" co-star Jake T. Austin to create a "dog"-umentary (see below) about the abuse and neglect of dogs in Puerto Rico. The pop star and actress also partnered with Island Dog, Inc., a charity that aims to find new families for homeless dogs in Puerto Rico.

"It just never made sense to any of us not to get a shelter dog, since there are so many that need homes," she said.

For his part, Bieber has also been active in promoting adoptions, most recently teaming with PETA on a campaign to inspire people to seek pets from animal shelters.

He told Animal Times magazine, "It's really important that people adopt. I really encourage going out to an animal shelter or a place where you can get a dog who has been abandoned or doesn't have a home."

For me peta is highly controversial. Especialy when I see such well tailored PR events.
