Centrepoint ambassador Lisa Maxwell told the paper that she recently met with Kate and Will (who is a patron of the charity) and mentioned the event. “She asked me about sleeping out, so I said: ‘Next time I do it, you’re doing it with me. No excuses, he’s done it.’ She said: ‘You’re on’.”
Back in 2009, Prince William took part in the Sleep Out and spent the night with other homeless youth on the London streets. The evening was particularly memorable after William and two others in his group were almost run over by a street sweeper.
“He was determined to do it as [Centrepoint] patron to raise awareness of the problem and to be able to understand a little better what rough sleepers go through," wrote Centrepoint's chief executive Seyi Obakin.
This year's event is expected to raise more than £250,000 to "support homeless people aged 16-25 with accommodation, learning and health."
