Matt Damon being tapped to star in 'We Bought A Zoo'

Actor is currently in talks to bring the true story of one family's wildlife refuge to life.

Matt Damon currently leads a short list of actors being courted to star in "We Bought A Zoo" — a true story to be directed by Cameron Crowe.

The 39-year-old actor would play Benjamin Mee, the author of the memoir the movie is based on. CinemaBlend gives a summary of the plot saying,

After the death of his wife, Mee and his family decide to buy a small zoo in the English countryside where they would live and work. After gathering a bunch of animals, including an African lion, a wolf, a tapir and a jaguar, the family uses the zoo to both grow together and find a way to move past their recent tragedy.

Who doesn't love a true story centered around helping animals and rebuilding lives?

According to Ecorazzi, Ben Stiller was also being considered for the role, but it's Damon's apparent knack for regional accents that tilted the odds in his favor.

If all goes according to plan, look for "Zoo" to be released in December 2011.
