If you're an up and coming member of the undead looking to increase your numbers and launch a zombie apocalypse, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better launching pad than New Jersey.
The "Garden State" has been ranked last in Estately.com's "Zombie Apocalypse Preparedness Rankings," a tongue-in-cheek study of the nation's strong and weak regions based on 11 metrics. Everything from enjoyment of the martial arts and laser tag to gun owners, paintball-participants, and obesity rates was researched to gauge a state's ability to survive.
Unfortunately for New Jersey, it ranked nearly dead-last in categories such as "Knowledge of Zombies," "Laser Tag," "Gun Owners," "Military Veterans," and "Survival Skills."
"If the zombie apocalypse began today, and you live in New Jersey, the odds are 100% that you’ve already been bitten and have become a zombie," writes the study's authors.
Just behind New Jersey was Mississippi, which was described as "M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-Die. Everybody is going to die. From zombies."
On the opposite end of the spectrum, both Alaska and Wyoming came in first and second respectively for surviving the zombie apocalypse.
"In a state where residents run from bears and moose, they will not be scared of slow-moving corpses," the site says. "Alaska is packed with military personnel and veterans, and they’re only a fraction of the well-armed Alaskans prepared to shoot zombies from a moving snowmobile."
