Paul McCartney: 'Have a turkey-free Thanksgiving'
Musician and animal activist appears in new PETA ad urging people to avoid eating meat during the U.S. holiday.

His first PETA ad since 2008, Paul McCartney is encouraging people to embrace a cruelty-free Thanksgiving and skip the meat.
”Say No, Thanks to Turkey,” Paul says, showing off a pro-turkey T-shirt. “Go Vegetarian.”
The musician and animal activist, who last year around this time released his first vegetarian cookbook, has long been a supporter of PETA. In a 2008 pro-veg campaign, he revealed the source of his love for animals and the defining moment that changed his view on eating meat.
“Many years ago, I was fishing, and as I was reeling in the poor fish, I realised, ‘I am killing him — all for the passing pleasure it brings me.’ “Something inside me clicked. I realised as I watched him fight for breath, that his life was as important to him as mine is to me”.
To assist those thinking about embracing a vegan Thanksgiving, PETA has provided a deep resource of recipes covering everything from appetizers to side dishes and gravies.
“Like chickens, the 300 million turkeys raised and killed for their flesh every year in the United States have no federal legal protection,” the org says. “More than 45 million turkeys are killed each year at Thanksgiving alone, and more than 22 million die at Christmas.”

Paul should mind his busineess in Britian
Of course a Brit would advocate giving Turkey up on Thanksgiving... I respect vegetarianism even though I love eating meat. But Thanksgiving is an American tradition that has included turkey as its signature food since the holiday was first celebrated centuries ago. PETA really should keep this to themselves and find some other day on which to wage their herbivore war. Leave Thanksgiving alone and let's stuff ourselves with turkey.
Actually, turkeys were not included in the first feast: hunted game like geese and duck.
