Shark Week celebrities auction off dinner dates

In honor of Discovery Channel's Shark Week, experts featured in shows offer one-on-one meetups to raise money for conservation efforts.

Discovery Channel's 2010 Shark Week is underway, and if you can't get enough of all the action on the small screen, the experts and celebs featured throughout the week are offering you an opportunity to take the experience a step further over lunch or dinner.

For the next week, shark experts from around the world will be up on eBay to raise funds for the Shark Research Institute’s conservation programs. People like Dr. Sylvia Earle, National Geographic explorer-in-residence and ardent ocean conservationist; Dr. Eugenie Clark, founder and director of Mote Marine Labs; Donald Schultz, host of Animal Planet’s "Wild Recon", Dr. Leonard Compagno, the world’s top shark expert; legendary filmmakers Tom Campbell, Jeff Kurr, Marty Snyderman and Jonathan Bird; underwater photographers Amos Nachoum and Matt Potenski, and many, many more.

On top of paying your winning bid, you're also going to have to shell out for dinner — but as you're allowed to bring guests, I'm sure that won't be an issue. As the press release states, it's also wise to pick an expert close to your location so you're not jetting all over the place after accidently bidding on Dr. David Rowat in the Seychelles.

If you can afford to meet up with Chris Fallows in South Africa, he'll take you out on his boat to see great whites eat while you eat. There are no refunds for loss of appetite.
