Some sad news struck the world of reality television late last week with the passing of "Shipping Wars" star Roy Garber. The series spotlights those independent carriers who make thousands shipping unique items, and Roy was one of its best-known leading characters.
According to TMZ, the 49-year-old was admitted to a hospital on Friday (Jan 17) and later died from complications related to a heart attack. In a statement, A&E remembered Garber by saying that they are "deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the A&E family. Our thoughts are with Roy’s loved ones during this difficult time. He will be missed."
Almost immediately, fans began to wonder about the fate of Garber's cat Muffy, a constant companion and co-star on the series. According to TMZ, the devoted feline was at Garber's side in the hospital when he passed and will now be sent to live with his mother in New Hampshire. You can see a clip of Roy and Muffy below.
In his bio on the A&E website, Roy is described as a "serious jack-of-all-trades and a know-it-all." It also describes how he had raised his son Travis on his own for the last 18 years.
"As a master tradesman, Roy supported his son by running a small homebuilding and remodeling company," the site adds.
Our condolences to Roy's family.
