Professional surfer Carlos Burle may have just set the world record for the tallest wave ever surfed.
The Brazilian traveled with other surfers to Portugal with the goal of setting records after a powerful storm "St. Jude" storm slammed Europe. Swells regularly topping over 100ft. hit the Praia do Norte coastline.
"It was luck. We never know when we will be catching the wave. I still hadn't surfed any wave and everyone had already had their rides," Burle told Surfer Today.
Guinness World Records will now analyze the below footage to see if Burle officially beat the world record set by Garrett McNamara, 78 feet, measured from trough to crest, on November 1, 2011.
