Animal Planet is about to get a bit more "tasty."

The network, best known for dramatic series like "Whale Wars" and "River Monsters," is developing a new docu-soap called "Sweet Avenger." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 12-episode series will focus on Danielle Konya, her bakery Vegan Treats, and the family and friends who help her run it.

“I want to show people that by eating a vegan confection, you’re directly saving the lives of cows, chickens and thereby the environment and habitats of thousands of other exotic species,” says Konya, who counts Alicia Silverstone and Joan Jett among fans of her creations. “There’s nothing appetizing about the suffering of 10 billion animals a year, and my treats can satisfy both the palate and the conscience.”

While Animal Planet lost some points with the animal rights crowd last month with its pigeon racing series "Taking on Tyson," it appears that this latest move is bringing back the love.

"This is amazing! I am so glad — this will help viewers make the connection that if you love animals, you don't want to hurt them or eat them! I can't wait, Animal Planet!," wrote one excited commenter.

With interest in veganism higher than ever, it's not surprising the network would decide to pursue this angle; something that President Marjorie Kaplan believes will further evolve the channel's content.

“Animal Planet made a big brand statement with 'Whale Wars,' ” she said in a statement. “Now with 'Sweet Avenger,' muscular conservation has a deliciously different new face.”

Expect this new series to hit Animal Planet later this summer.
