A petition started last week
by "homebrewers across America" on the official White House site has received over 10,000 signatures; requesting the Administration to give up the goods "In keeping with the brewing traditions of the founding fathers."
According to a tweet
send out by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, if the petition meets the goal of 25,000 signatures before September 17th, the Administration will release the recipe. Replied one commenter humorously: "Until you release the beer recipe, you've got no business criticizing Romney for not releasing his tax returns."
While the Obama Administration has been enjoying the White House Honey Ale (incidentally, the first beer ever brewed within the White House) since the 2011 Super Bowl
, interest over the beverage did not erupt publicly until the President brought some with him on the campaign trail this summer.
When pressed for more details, he said: “I have exhausted my knowledge of this subject. When someone hands me a beer, I don’t ask how it was made, I just drink it.”
