TarzanEveryone's favorite undulating-voiced jungle man, Tarzan, embraces an extreme "return to nature" philosophy which has inspired some of the world's greatest real life environmentalists, including Jane Goodall. (Ironically, Tarzan's fictional wife is also named Jane.) Although he is able to appear as a civilized individual to society, he prefers to "strip off the thin veneer of civilization" — as his literary creator Edgar Rice Burroughs so artfully explains. As a superhero, Tarzan has ape-like dexterity and the ability to learn new languages easily, including those of animals.
