Greenwich Park, London's oldest royal park, will host the Olympic and Paralympic equestrian events and the Modern Pentathlon.
Located on 183 acres of land south of Olympic Park and across the River Thames, the park is home to the National Maritime Museum and the Old Royal Naval College. Adding to its importance, the park was established as a World Heritage Site in 1997 and serves as the base for Greenwich Mean Time.
To prepare for the Games, several temporary structures will be installed, including a cross-country course that winds throughout the park and an arena on the grounds of the National Maritime Museum. The temporary structures will be taken down after the Games conclude.
