Located in Hertfordshire, 30 kilometers (18.5 miles) north of Olympic Park, the Lee Valley White Water Centre will host the Canoe Slalom competition.
The venue features a 300-meter competition course and a 160- meter intermediate/training course, as well as a man-made lake that will feed the course pumps. These pumps, in addition to a series of obstacles, will create the white water needed for competition.
Construction of the facility began in July 2009 and finished in December 2010, making it the only brand new Olympic venue open to public use prior to the start of the Games. After the Games, the facility will be run by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and will be open to athletes of all experience levels.
