The good news is this isn't a depiction of a living, decapitated head. But it is an accurate depiction of the artist who created it, Marc Quinn. Oh, and it's made out of 4 1/2 liters of Quinn's own frozen blood.
That's right: Quinn sculpted his own likeness out of his own blood, which he gradually took from his body over a five-month period. Described by the artist as a "frozen moment on life support," the piece is maintained within a refrigeration unit and remade every five years to account for Quinn’s own physical transformations.
