Chilean miners emerge

Osman Araya, 30, embraces his tearful wife, Angelica, after surfacing from the collapsed San José copper-gold mine in the Atacama Desert near Copiapo, Chile, on Oct. 13.

Araya and 32 other miners became trapped after a cave-in on Aug. 5 and were forced to survive underground for 69 days before being rescued. The story of their rescue captivated the world, and an estimated 1 billion people around the world watched the live broadcast of their rescue on television.
